Spring Blitzkrieg

Spring is always a busy time of year for us. We got married in the spring, a week before Kurt's birthday, Natalee was born and there's always a lot going on at school. Here's some of the highlights: Natalee had a small birthday party - it was just the four girls. They found Mousse curled up in her favorite bag (my beach bag) in the middle of the fray., I had great plans for making this fabulous birthday cake, but settled on a strawberry cream cake from Lucky's bakery that morning. She loved it!

The girls from school were thrilled that Hannah could come because she gives them all make-overs. As if they need them!

Kurt is still trying to convince Natalee that she will always be his "baby", even though she'll be in Young Women's in a year and keeps reminding us!The same day we had gone to Filoli gardens, Deborah called with spur-of-the-moment tickets to the ballet spring repertory at the San Jose Center for the Performing Arts. We parked in the Adobe building across the street and walked. The building was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. Not my style, but art none the less. Our husbands wouldn't go, but us ladies were enriched.

Natalee had a tour of the family history library in our building and Sister Kaye Brown was able to dig up some great photos of Kurt's family that we'd never seen. This is Kurt's grandparents, Susy & Hugh Howard; Susy's dad, John Green is standing on the porch and we think the toe-head baby on Susy's lap is Kurt's mom, Carol. We are so grateful to see these pictures!

Easter felt weird this year because the kids didn't have spring break until a full week after Easter. But, it was nice to have just the 4 of us at home. It gave me the chance to make those Easter Story cookies I've been wanting to try for years. It's fun to have two kids that read: they took turns reading the scripture story and were amazed at the transformation to the eggs when we beat them. I woke up Sunday morning to find the tape that was "sealing" the oven door shut (like Christ's burial chamber) cracked open and a few cookies gone. Hm, how's that for following the metaphor?!

Of course, we died eggs, too. I think they're favorite decorating feature this year were the Star Wars plastic sleeves.

Gehrig is still loving cub scouts - this project was to make a paper bag "vest" and write a story on the back using some of the symbols they'd learned about Indian Lore.

We've still more events to cover this spring, but we'll save that for another post!
